Heal The World

Poverty

Yall know i be on some positive vibez 24-7, but being positive does not mean being ignorant to the negative. It saddens me that every major tourist city has the largest, harshest ghettoes.

-

Everywhere from Jamaica to Rio De Janeiro to India to even Miami. It hurts my heart to walk downtown & on the beach sometimez. Everyone's just walking around wrapped up in their own material riches that they just walk passed the homeless people that swarm the streets.

-

Most people walk by the homeless people as oblivious to them as if they were a pebble on the ground. . . . . . .Careless. . . . . .Selfish!

-

-

-

This is the type of scenery that floods my city & Miami isnt even close to being the most poverty-stricken area in the world, so imagine these so-called 3rd world countries.

-
-
-

A great majority of Third World countries were former colonies and with the end of imperialism many of these countries, especially the smaller ones, were faced with the challenges of nation & institution-building on their own for the first time. Due to this common background a lot of these nations were for most of the 2oth century, and are still today, "developing" in economic terms.

-
The Third World is the majority of national powers on the planet. To include to this, many Third World nations (especially in Africa), are affected drastically by political problems, or bad geographical conditions, such as droughts and non-fertile soil. These problems are not the least of it. Famines, shortages, regional wars, and etc., have all caused much instability and no hopes of restoration in the public in Third World nations.
-
What saddens my heart the most are the children that have to suffer due to all this political bullshit.

-
-
-

I recently wuz reading an OSHO book on freedom & he mentioned a very interesting story about Lao Tzu (a philosopher who founded Taoism over 2,500 years ago). I really feel like it applies to society & the poverty issue.
-
-
-
-
-
Lao Tzu became very famous, a wise man, and he was without doubt one of the wisest men ever. The emperor of China asked him very humbly to become his chief of the supreme court, because nobody could guide the country's laws better than he could. But Lao Tzu tried to persuade the emperor, "I am not the right man," but the emperor was insistent.
-
So Lao Tzu said, "If you don't listen to me . . . just one day in the court & you will be convinced that I am not the right man, because the system is wrong. Out of humbleness I was not saying the truth to you. Either I can exist or your law and your order and your society can exist . . . let us try it though."
-
The first day a thief who had stolen almost half the treasures of the richest man in the capital was brought into the court. Lao Tzu listened to the case and then he said that the thief & the richest man should both go to jail for 6 months. (lol)
-
The rich man said, "What are you saying? I have been stolen from, I have been robbed - what kind of justice is this, that you are sending me to jail for the same amount of time as the thief?"
-
Lao Tzu said, "I am certainly being unfair to the thief. Your need to be in jail is greater, because you have collected so much money to yourself, deprived so many people of money . . . thousands of people are downtrodden and you are collecting & collecting money. For what? Your very greed is creating these thieves. You are responsible. The first crime is yours."
-
Lao Tzu's logic is absolutely clear. If there are going to be too many poor people & only a few rich people, you cannot stop the thieves, you cannot stop stealing. The only way to stop it is to have a society where everybody has enuff to fulfill their needs, and nobody has unnecessary accumulation just outta greed.
-
The rich man said, "Before you send me to jail I want to see the emperor, because this is not according to the constitution; this is not according to the law of the country."
-
Lao Tzu said, "That is the fault of the constitution & the fault of the law of the country. I am not responsible for it. Go & see the emperor."
-
The rich man said to the emperor, "Listen, this man should be immediately deposed from his post; he is dangerous. Today I am going to jail, tomorrow you will be in jail. If you want to save yourself, this man has to be thrown out; he is absolutely dangerous. And he is very rational. What he is saying is right; I can understand it - but he will destroy us!"
-
The emperor understood it perfectly well. "If this rich man is a criminal, then I am the greatest criminal in the country. Lao Tzu will not hesitate to send me to jail."
-
Lao Tzu was released of his post. He said, "I tried to tell you before; you are unnecessarily wasting my time. I told you I am not the right man. the reality is that your society, your law, & constitution are not right. You need wrong people to run this whole wrong system."
-
-
-
-
The problem is that the forces we created to keep man from falling apart into chaos are now so powerful that they don't want to leave you free to grow - because if you are capable of growing, becoming an individual, alert, aware, & conscious, there will be no need off all these people. They will all lose their jobs, and with their jobs they will lose their prestige, their power, their leadership, their priestood, their popehood - everything will be gone.
-
So now those who were needed in the beginning for protection have turned into the enemies of humanity. -OSHO

-
-
-
-
-

Now I want u to see this video. It is quite disturbing, but remember this is just one situation with 3 kids. There are billions more across the world goin thru this & worst. And it truly is a crime. In this video, you will see what Lao Tzu meant when he referred to the rich as criminals.

-

-

-

Instead of false wars on drugs & false wars on terror, those same trillions of dollars could go towards education.

The amount of money spent on bullshit is actually more than enuff to educate people across the world. Ultimately, the choices people choose are up to them, but when one is educated, the choices are made in a more logical manner.

-
-
-
We must think over our actions. We are all interconnected & this situation of poverty is not sumthin that can be ignored. We must be more aware of our movements to make sure greed & selfishness does not consume us. One of the biggest sins is how much food is wasted each day. We tend to take for granted our blessings of food in this society.
-
-
-
-
And i also challenge u to fast for one day each month. Cook or buy a meal & go to Overtown or wherever u know there's an abundance of poverty & feed at least one person. Do a good deed for someone & even though, it wont fix their whole situation, it will uplift their spirits, which will return to u at the most unexpected times.
-
And sometimez when a homeless person asks u for a dollar or two, just give it to them. They might just spend it on alcohol or drugs, but there's just as much of a chance that they will use it for food. Its not up to you to judge what they will use the money for, especially when you have a house to go home to, food in your fridge, & running water. How selfish can we be?
-
If a homeless person decides to use it for thingz that aren't necessities, that's on them. At least you did your part.
-
Remember: Life is full of suffering when we are selfish, but Life is full of bliss when we are selfless. Luvnlight

Brain Food

Exercise Creates Brain Cells

I just came home from a nice workout at my grandpeople's gym. I must say I'm feeling sooooo refreshed.
NeWayz, the water fountains in the gym have a huge bulletin board filled with all types of things. When i went to get a drink, i saw sumthin very interesting. They had an article posted up about exercise increasing brain cells, so, of course, i came home & did a lil' research on it.

-

-

-

-

I alwayz said that the Mind, Body, & Soul is interconnected; like the Trinity of the Self.

Well, come to find out, scientists have discovered that sumthin about exercise actually creates brain cells (neurons). So much for weed-smoke doin permanent damage. lol

-

-

-

Exercise has several positive effects on the brain:

-

1) Enhanced mood

-

2) Improved memory

-

3) Increased brain blood flow

-

4) Delayed or slowed progression of Alzheimer's disease

-

5) Reduced brain damage after injury

-

-

-

When we exercise, we intake more oxygen, which increases the blood flow, which eventually travels to the brain. For some reason, when this increased bloodflow reaches into the hippocampus part of the brain, it creates neurons (brain cells).

The hippocampus is the part of the brain involved in learning and memory.

-

I know even when i'm done with the simplest physical activity like yoga stretches, my mind feels so refreshed. I be so much more aware during my day & i seem to be able to process information a lot easier + i can deal with pressurized situations in a more positive light.
So when i hit the gym for an hour or go for a run, i feel even more on point.
With this said & done, I found out that just a 20minute power-walk each day has been very effective in decreasing the chances of Alzheimer's, dementia, & depression.
This happens because exercise also increases levels of protective molecules in the brain, so deterioration cannot take place as easily.
-
-
-
Exercise produces other benefits, such as increased muscle strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance, endurance and posture, all of which promote self-sufficiency and decrease feelings of dependence and depression.
-
-
-
Physical exercise is basically like tuning up ur engine in order for ur machine to work properly, so exercise & feed yall brains the proper food needed for a balanced Life.

Debate

Addiction

To those of you whom know me, know that i used to use herb (Cannabis) & back in the dayz, I used to serve too.
Right now I'm in a drug court program because I wuz caught with a semi-large amount.
-
I used to smoke sometimez, but mainly I used it in tea form or to cook with; and I often would take breaks from it.
-
-
-
To me.....that's not wut you'd really call an addictive substance if I'd go for months at a time without using it.
What's crazy is throughout all the debates with counselors & officers, their only excuse has been that it's an addictive substance...................
-
-
-
-
Of course, as you can see, I'm an advocate towards the legalization of marijuana, but I also seek to prove that we are naturally creatures of habit. We all have our addictions & patterns that pull us in. When it's all said & done, I'm really just an advocate for the legalization of freedom.

-
-
-
I know that there are substances, that after long periods of use, can affect how the body reacts without them in the system.
-
For example: heroin, crystal meth, crack cocaine, etc.
-
Now, I dont advocate putting certain thingz into our bodies, but I also do not feel it is right for one man to demand what another man chooses to do with their body.
In places like Amsterdam where it is legal to do basically anything, the crime rate & addiction rate is one of the lowest in the world.
Why?
Because when you tell someone they can't do something, it makes them wanna do it even more. We are all free spirits at heart & will rebel against rules.

-
-
-
-
LOL. What's even crazier is that there are certain proven addictive substances that are legal like tobacco, alcohol, & caffeine.
So who really determines this shit after all?

-
-
-
-
When it boils down to it, addiction is a mind thing. We make ourselves feel dependant on whateva our addiction is. Yes, we are BE~ings made up of chemicals & certain chemicals mixed with other chemicals create chemical reactions just like in a science lab.
-
-
-
We feel good when neurons in the reward pathway of our brains release a neurotransmitter called dopamine.
-
A neuron is an excitable cell in the nervous system that processes and transmits information by electrochemical signaling. Neurons are the core components of the brain, the spinal cord, and the peripheral nerves.
-
They respond to stimuli, and communicate the presence of stimuli to the central nervous system, which processes that information and sends responses to other parts of the body for action.
-
Here's wut a neuron in our brain looks like:
-
-
-
Neurons in the reward pathway communicate by sending electrical signals down their axons. The signal is passed to the next neuron across a small gap called a synapse.
-
Dopamine is released into the synapse. Excess dopamine is taken back up by the sending cell, while other nerve cells release an inhibitor that works to prevent the receptor nerve from being overstimulated.
-
Now, addictive substances increase the amount of dopamine in the synapse, heightening the feeling of pleasure. Addiction occurs when repeated use of something disrupts the normal balance of brain circuits that control rewards, memory and cognition, ultimately leading to compulsive behavior towards use.
-
-
-
-
My argument is that "wuz wrong with people wanting to be overstimulated with pleasure?" & my counselor's argument is "why do we need a substance to do gain pleasure?"
-
Well, if that's the case, we might as well die. lol
-
Everything we do; everything we physically or mentally are pleased by, is based on substances.
-
Wut would happen to half the world if meat wuz just made illegal, because it's not needed to survive?
Seriously?
We don't need meat & most animal products aren't good for our health; plus meat-eaters are more likely to be xtra lustful, quicker to fight, & think more irrationally in pressured situations compared to vegetarians.
-
I mean, obesity is really taking over our society & in many cases, it's killing people.
Don't get me wrong. There are people who have genes that lead them to be bigger than others, but much of America's obesity is due to an addiction to food = a compulsive attraction to stuffing our faces.
-
-
-
How many of you love chocolate or other sweets?
Many of you get a high off of these products. Believe it or not. Chocolate releases a certain amount of dopamines & could even become an aphrodesiac.
Sweets hype some people up + people who use candies & cookies on a regular basis have been known to have "withdrawals" too.
-
I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but the same goes for herb & other illegal substances.
-
-
-
-
Many of yall get sick & automatically feel u have to pop a pill or drink some medicine.
Isn't that an addiction?
-
Most timez, these chemicals don't cure us.......they just temporarily take away the pain or uneasiness. On top of that, they make you dependant on these substances everytime u have the subtlest cough or headache.
Do u know wut that does to ur immune system?
It makes it weak & leaves it lost, not knowing how to battle serious sickness on its own.......And it all starts with ur mind.
-
-
-
Anutha major addiction, which will never be eliminated, especially in a society like this, is sex.
-
Let’s look at what goes on in the brain during sex and orgasm. Although u think everything happens between ur legs, the experience of orgasm actually occurs between ur ears. Certain pathways are turned on, while ur "defenses are turned off". This happens by means of chemical messengers and the nerve cell receptors they bind to. These neurochemical changes take place in the limbic system, or "mammalian brain." The mammalian brain controls almost all bodily functions. It’s the seat of emotions, desires, drives & impulses. It’s where u fall in & out of love…or lust.
-
Basically, ur brain does the same shit it does when u intake an illegal substance. Dopamines are rushed into the brain & other parts of the brain are shut off.
-
It's a high!!!!!
And in most people, sex has become an addiction. How many people yall know that are mean or bitchy when they don't get sex on a regular basis?
Sorry to tell you guys, but that's wut u call a withdrawal in drug terminology. lol
-
-
-
It's even to the point where people are addicted to their emotions. Emotions are just chemical releases in the brain that trickle down throughout our nervous system.
Many mental illnesses are due to people's addiction to the highs & lows that certain emotions give.
Bipolar sydrome is one example.
-
-
-
-
In this drug court program, their main goal is to supposedly make u not use whateva it wuz u got locked up for in the 1st place; to replace it with sumthin else. They do this by making u stay "clean" for a year or 2.
-
My challenge to them is to refrain from TVs & computers for a year or 2.
(the most addictive thing in America right now)
-
-
-
My counselor feels like this doesn't count b-cuz it's not a substance being put into ur body & it's not harmful. I beg to differ. TVs & computers shoot out harmful electromagnetic waves & affect the frequencies in our brain neurons. But newayz, wuzn't the point to this program all about breaking us from addiction? lol
-
Most people can't go a week without TV, let alone a day.
-
The TV's an easy way to affect the dopamine use in our brain. 1st of all it's being shot directly into our eyez. I don't know too many other substances that are intaked in this way. 2nd of all, due to acting & film editing, our emotions are thrown left & right.
Some of yall might see me as reaching too far to argue a point, but i feel the TV is very relevant to this subject. It still causes chemical affects in our brain patterns & that is how these people supposedly determine wut drugs are.
-
This whole drug war & these laws built around it are all abuncha BS. Open yall eyez. We've perceived the substances that we see as drugs due to how they've brainwashed us.

-
-
-
For thousands of years (since the beginning of recorded history), people have utilized substances for physical, mental, & spiritual gratification.
-
The ancient Myans & Incans used to chew the cocaine leaf for extra boosts of energy. The Native Americans used to puff on peyote during prayer circles. Jesus even turned water into wine (an alcoholic beverage).
Cannabis wuz being used in China since 3,500 BC.
It's only been illegal for less than 100 years.
Society wuz built on people using substances to gain higher levels of consciousness.
Almost all the great leaders, artists, philosophers, & scientists throughout HisStory had a substance of choice.
Some of our most classic novels like "FRANKENSTEIN" were written under the influence of sumthin. How did sumthin that has enhanced mankind become sumthin so wicked in less than a century?
-
This picture below is of a Hindu sadhu (holy man) puffing on the herb, which wuz given to us by a holy deity named Shiva, for us to achieve enlightenment. The tradition of smoking weed is as ancient as wearing clothes.
-
-
-
-
Dont get me wrong. I don't advocate addiction on any level even if it is herb. We shouldn't be controlled by the lack of any substance or feeling.
-
Mind over matter is the realest reality.
-
But God did give us will & that's not for anutha human to determine.
-
The same money being put into locking up people & destroying folks' lives could be utilized towards education. Better education within our society would introduce an effective, positive change into our daily human interactions; not a drug war.
-
NE~Wayz yall.
BE Aware of ur habits & addictions & BE the best you that you can BE.
